Mattias Carosella grew up in upstate New York in a multi-cultural household with arepas for breakfast and multi-generational Italian Sunday dinners. His parents moved the family to Madrid when he was ten, and the year abroad opened his eyes to the vastness of the world. It stoked a love of history and culture, which he then pursued in his undergraduate studies. Building off his History and Philosophy degrees, he traveled to the UK to study at the London School of Economics and earned an MSc in Empires, Colonialism, and Globalization. He abandoned his hopes of earning a PhD in Philosophy and fell into a new love: writing fiction. Currently, Mattias lives in Virginia with his fiancee and their rescue dog.
